

Mrs. Morris died Monday, December 25, 2023 at a local hospital.
Mary Elizabeth Morris was born on December 8, 1943 in Temple, Texas to Mildred Martin Cannon and Arthur Bogart Cannon. She attended Temple schools and graduated from Temple High School in 1962. She married Douglas Ray Morris on August 26, 1966 in Baytown, Texas. She attended Temple College and graduated from Howard Payne University. She was a teacher with the Department of Defense at several locations and retired from Belton ISD after 22 years of service. Mary Beth was loved and admired for her sacrificial service to others. She loved leading the Girlfriends ministry, and was very involved in other ministries at Canyon Creek Baptist Church. God gifted her with discernment, wisdom, advising, hospitality, understanding, and teaching. She was a best friend to all. She loved crafting, spending time in the Word, and especially anything to do with her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Sharon Hanna.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Douglas R. Morris of Temple; a daughter, Melanie Cook and husband Darrell of Oenaville; two sons, Brad Morris of Temple and Darrell Morris of Temple; sisters, Martha Chandler of Temple, Nelly Kerbow and husband David of Houston, Belinda Wade and husband Bob of Nacogdoches and Mary Jane Heeney and husband Michael of Cypress Creek; five grandchildren, Brittany Bane and husband Jacob, Brandon Cook, Austin Morris, Will Morris and Mikaela Morris; and three great grandchildren, Camri, Stryker and Remy Bane; nieces, Marcie Conde, Holly Chlapek, Misty Wyatt, Brandy German, Candy Klingensmith, and Megan Perry; nephews Bob Marinik, Rhett and Ryan Sanders, and a great niece, Nicole Hanna.
Memorials may be given in Mrs. Morris’ name to the Girlfriend's ministry at Canyon Creek Baptist Church, 4306 S 31st St., Temple, Texas 76502.
The family will receive visitors from 4-6:00pm Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
