

Mary Nieves Silva Flores, age 91 of Temple, died Friday, June 10, 2016 at a local care center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7:00 pm Monday, June 13, 2016 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 pm. Mrs. Flores was born on August 5, 1924 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to the late Calletano and Felipa Alvarado Silva. On December 2, 1951, she married Moses Flores. Mr. Flores preceded her in death on March 8, 2005. Mary worked at Scott and White in the pathology lab as a lab technician for over 20 years. She loved cooking, gardening, dancing, music and crocheting and was very active in her church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she volunteered by visiting the elderly and membership in the Las Guadalupanas and the Cursillistas. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and seven brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Dora Ybarbo and husband Jesse of Temple; a son, Louie Flores of Temple; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ryan Flores, Robert Flores, David Gonzalez, Tyler Ybarbo, David Silva and Jesse Silva. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Flores, Jesse Flores, Juan Bustos, Darryle Staton and Norman Northen. Memorials may be given in Mrs. Flores’ name to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
