Nancy Owens

Nancy Owens, age 67, of Temple died Monday, April 27, 2009 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday May 1, 2009 at the Floca Memorial Pavilion at Hillcrest Cemetery with Garrett Layne officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Owens was born on November 4, 1941 in Raymondville, Texas to Willie Mike and Irene Mildred Casey Buchanan. She graduated from Cameron High School in 1960. Nancy spent most of her career in the insurance business. She worked for State Farm (Lee Goman), McCelvey Insurance, Leibowitz and Purifoy Insurance Company. Nancy also worked for Scott and White Hospital throughout her life. She had been with Scott and White for 17 years. At the time of her death, she was a night Admissions Clerk for the hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and one nephew. Survivors include one daughter, Jodi Lynn Fields and husband, Jon of Temple; two brothers, Charles Buchanan and wife, Elizabeth of Rockdale, Texas and Chester Buchanan and wife, Brenda of Hearne, Texas; three sisters, Dottie Pollak and husband, Mark of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Shirley Jones of Weatherford, Texas, and Mary George and husband, Bill of Pendleton, Texas; two grandchildren, Bailee and Avery Fields of Temple.
