

Richard Allen Mohun of Austin, Texas, departed this earthly life on January 31, 2013, one day before his 77th birthday. He died at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin five days after a fall at his home. He was born on February 1, 1936, in Evergreen Park, (a suburb of Chicago) Illinois, and was the youngest of John Laub "Jack" Mohun jr. and Ruth Ernestine Allen Mohun's three sons. Richard attended schools in the Chicago suburbs of Westchester and La Grange; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Houston, Texas, before moving to Temple in 1953, where his family became members of Christ Episcopal Church. Richard graduated from Temple High School in 1954 and from the University of Texas where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering on June 6, 1959. On that same day, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy where he served for two years. He was retired from the oil, gas, and CO2 business. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, John Laub "Jack" Mohun III and Laurel Mohun, and his brother Michael Thomas Mohun. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marion Adams Mohun, two children from a previous marriage, Michelle (Cary) Overbey, David (Kristen) Mohun, and five grandchildren, Linden, Lucas, and Coleman Overbey, and Abigail and Marshall Mohun. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Mohun; two nephews, Scott Mohun and Michael (Irene) Mohun; and two nieces, Marcey (David) Loader and Susan (Richard) Carlin. A memorial service for Richard will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 2 at 11:00am. His earthly body was cremated, and the ashes will be interred in the Christ Church columbarium.
