
Memorial services for Richard Sinclair Wahlberg, 81, of Troy will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday April 11, 2013 at Covenant Lutheran Church with Rev. Heath Abel officiating. Mr. Wahlberg died April 4, 2013 in a Temple Hospital. Mr. Wahlberg was born in Houston October 13, 1931 to Herbert Nicholas Wahlberg and Agnes Myrtle Snow Wahlberg. He graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in 1950, attended Texas A & M University and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Business. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Frances Blakeway Nov. 23, 1955. She preceded him in death January 20, 2013. He went to work for Retail Merchants of Houston and worked for Humble Oil and Refining as Department Manager of Reproduction. He retired in 1981 from Exxon Esso Easter in Houston and moved to Bell County. He was an agent for Farm Bureau and Farmers Insurance and co owned and operated Temple Insurance Company. He also taught school in Troy and sold tickets to all sporting events. He was a member of SPJST lodge 88 in Houston; VFW in Cameron, the American Legion and was a founding member of Covenant Lutheran Church. He was an avid Gulf Coast salt water fisherman. Survivors include one son Mark Wahlberg and his wife Sherry Staudinger of Troy; one daughter Mary Lynn Simmons and her husband Lee of Belton; one brother Bill Wahlberg of Houston; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
