
Robert A. Bills, age 88 of Temple, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Minister Warren King officiating. Private family burial, with full military honors, will take place at Buckhorn Cemetery near Moody. There will be no set time for visitation. Robert was born on October 30, 1921 in Kerens, Texas to the late James Roscoe and Lonie Boyd Bills. Robert attended schools in Sudan, Texas and graduated from Sudan High School. In 1938, at the age of 17, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1961 after 20 years of service. He then worked at the Temple Post Office and retired in 1986 after 24 years of service. On March 28, 2007, Robert married Lois Etter Votaw in Oklahoma. Robert loved to fish and also loved to grow vegetables that he lovingly donated to Martha's Kitchen. He was a lifetime member of Leon Valley Church of Christ in Belton. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Lois Bills of Temple; two daughters, Donna Duff of Missouri and Linda Rojo of Temple; two sons, Roger Bills and Lynn Pokey' Bills, both of Temple; one brother, J.W. Bills of California; five step-children, Karen Webb of Mississippi, Glenda Webb of Temple, Melvin McDaniel, Jr., of Florida, Judy Knox of Belton and Marvin McDaniel of San Antonio and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made in Mr. Bills' name to the American Cancer Society.
