

Tava Clark Tranum, age 91 of Temple, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2013. Tava led an exemplary and joyful life serving God and her family and friends. Viewing will be available Monday, January 7th and Tuesday, January 8th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Visitation will also be there on Tuesday, January 8th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Services will take place on Wednesday, January 9th at 11:30 AM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Lamb of Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple officiating. Private family burial will be at Deer Creek Gardens. Mrs. Tranum was born on August 21, 1921 to W. S. and Leona Kelso Clark in Mantachie, Mississippi. The oldest of 10 siblings, Tava helped raise them also while caring for her dad who passed away at an early age. She met the love of her life, Clark S. Tranum, at the age of 18 and married him on February 8, 1941 after a short courtship. They were married for 56 years before his passing in 1997 at the age of 90 years. After living the majority of their married life together in West Memphis, Arkansas, they moved together to Temple in the early 90's to be closer to her son and his family. The last two years, Tava was a resident of The Meridian Retirement Community. Tava was the mother of two, Jim Tranum of Temple and Mary Alice Tranum Taylor of Destin, Florida. Beside enjoying her time as a homemaker, she also loved to paint, cross-stitch, cook, bake her famous desserts, and above all, share life stories and partake in long conversations with her friends and family. She was a proud member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple. Tava exemplified a true Christian life and loved the Lord with all her heart. Survivors include her two children, Jim Tranum and wife, Eva Marie of Temple and Mary Alice Tranum Taylor and husband, Joe of Destin, Florida, four grandchildren, Lacey Taylor Jordan and husband, Bill; Christina Tranum Trammell and husband, Tony; Anna Tranum Kessler and husband, David and Lisa Marie Tranum and seven great-grandchildren, Clark, Lilly and Bill Jr. Jordan; Austin and Tyler Marie Trammell and Andrew and Sarah Marie Kessler. Also surviving are her sisters, Joan Wright and Jean Carlson and her brother, Johnny Clark as well as numerous extended family, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends including Betty Riddick and author, Joyce Finch Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Scott & White McLane Children's Hospital.
