Verl Nu’Wayne Thorne, 83, of Lubbock, Texas passed away peacefully in Temple, Texas on Friday, October 24, 2025. Verl was born on March 1, 1942, in Rotan, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Wynona Thorne and his brother Marion Thorne.
He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1961. Verl worked as a welder for Eagle-Picher, in Lubbock for over 30 years. He was a Chute Boss for C-T Rodeo Company for over 25 years, where he also enjoyed riding bucking bulls and horses. He enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing and camping with his brothers.
He is survived by his brothers: Bobby Thorne, Donnie Thorne and his wife Judy, Randy Thorne and his wife Kay, and Ralph Thorne and his wife Patsy. He is also survived by four children: Shelly Ramsey, Kevin Thorne, Monica Boyd and her husband Kent, and Lana Burns and her husband Aaron; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A celebration honoring Verl’s life will be held at his favorite lake.
