

Memorial services for Wilson Thomas Moon, 99, of Temple will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Robbins and Rev. Hubert Austin officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Holland Cemetery. Mr. Moon died Tuesday at his residence. Mr. Moon was born to John R. and Pearl Wilson Moon in Wilson Valley south of Little River, Texas and grew up in the Holland Community where he graduated from High School. He attended Texas A & M University where he studied Agriculture. While at A & M he lettered on the varsity baseball team for three years and was the Captain of the Southwest Conference Championship club his senior year. Upon graduation from A & M he began work immediately for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service. His major assignments were in Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Indiana and Iowa. During his Agriculture Department career, he was honored with various awards, including the Superior Service Award from the U.S.D.A., presented by the Secretary of Agriculture, Dr. Earl Butts. He retired as the State Conservationist in Iowa in 1975, after forty years of service. During World War II he was an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of Major. Since retirement he has been engaged in the Registered Beef Cattle business on his farm near Holland. He was married to Bess Thompson Moon for 55 years, who preceded him in death in 1997. He is survived by his present wife Dorothy Graham Moon, nephew Gary Moon of San Antonio three stepchildren: Bill Graham of Virginia, Susan Alexander of The Woodlands and Janet Keckeisen of Dallas; three grandchildren Stephanie Graham, Elizabeth Keckeisen and Mary Catherine Keckeisen. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Organ Fund or Building Fund. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
