Ann A. Maresca (nee Cellucci), 92, of Toms River, NJ passed peacefully on Tuesday April 14, 2020 at her home. She was born July 20, 1927 in NYC and lived in North Bergen for many years before moving to Toms River in 1995.
Ann met her future husband Daniel while working at Western Electric. They married on February 1, 1948, having just celebrated 72 wonderful years. After raising her children, she returned to work at the Hudson County Vocational School in North Bergen, NJ where she retired as office manager in 1995.
She is survived by her devoted husband Daniel; her two loving sons Daniel and wife Pam of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Thomas and wife Gail of Branchburg, NJ; her four inspired grandchildren David Maresca, Steven Maresca and wife Courtney, Brian Maresca, and Kelly Guglielmino and husband Christopher; her caring sister Lucille Hodgson; and many nieces and nephews. Ann is predeceased by her parents; Carlos and Rose Cellucci; her sister Carmela Tompkins and her brother Carlo Cellucci.
In the 1970’s and 1980’s, Ann was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima choir in North Bergen, NJ and was known to break into song many times throughout the day. She and her husband were accomplished ball room dancers who would light up the dance floor; whether at home, attending family events, or at the Holiday City South clubhouse. After moving to Toms River, Ann was a member of the Holiday City Women’s Club and wrote for the community newspaper, Southwind. She enjoyed reading daily horoscopes and was born under the sign of cancer.
Ann was a very beautiful and happy soul. She was a person of great integrity and fiercely protective of her family whom she loved unconditionally. The family has always described Ann and Dan as having lived a “love story”; holding hands with each other until her last day. Together, they created a legacy of love that inspires their family daily and that will be remembered forever.
Her voice will echo in memories you hold; Her smile will warm you through stories re-told,
Her love will touch you in spirit each day; Her life will be treasured in beautiful ways.
Funeral services at this time were private and a memorial mass with burial at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery will be scheduled in the future.
