Betty L. Gavini, 96, of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully Sunday, September 7, 2025. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Betty lived in East Orange and Kearny until moving to Toms River 40 years ago. Betty was a Saleswoman for Stern's Department store in West Orange and Toms River, NJ for many years.
Betty was an original parishioner of the Pinelands Reformed Church, Toms River. She loved volunteering at the church and was a member of their choir and also served as a bell ringer.
Betty enjoyed living in Holiday City, she was involved with the Variety Show, Line Dancing and even learned to Tap Dance at the age of 75. She also enjoyed playing bocce ball with her friends from the club. Most importantly Betty loved all the activities Holiday City had to offer.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Arnold in 1986, her son David Russell in 2022 and her grandson Joey Spagnardi in 2021. She is survived by her four children: Emily Spagnardi and her husband Joe, Barbara Trubenbach and her husband Jack, Nancy Moland and her husband Mel, Charles Russell and his wife Diane and her daughter in law Annie Russell. Betty is also survived by her ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, 12:00 pm at the Pinelands Reformed Church, Toms River.
