

Elena Veltre, 80, of Manchester, NJ passed away on Thursday March 11, 2021 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in NYC, NY she lived in Elizabeth before moving to Toms River in 1971. She’s lived in Manchester for the past 20 years. She received her Bachelors in Education from Kean University, completed her Master’s degree in Spanish at Montclair State and also completed courses towards her doctrine. Elena worked as a Spanish teacher in various NJ schools and for many years as a court interpreter and translator. She was a lector and Eucharistic minister at Saint Josephs and other parishes in the area. She was a devout Catholic and loved her Spanish heritage. She had many friends and prayed for everyone daily.
Elena was predeceased by her sister, Carmen Rios and her brothers Frank and Eduardo Pena. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Bach and her husband Peter of Port Deposit, MD; Amy Iozzi and her husband Mark of Brick, NJ; a brother Cass Pena of NY; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday March 17, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will take place at 3:30 PM. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Elena’s memory to St. Judes Children’s hospital.
