George Capko

George Capko, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday June 18, 2012 at home. Born in Somerville, NJ he lived in Garfield and Clifton before retiring to Toms River 26 years ago. George was a veteran of the US Army having served his country proudly in the Pacific during WW II. He owned the Palisade Cleaners in Garfield NJ for many years. He was a member of the VFW Post 9503 in Bayville, NJ. He enjoyed the Men’s Club, Golf Club, Bocce Clubs of SRPN in Berkeley as well as Monday night poker with his buddies.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Helen Boltack Capko ; his son George Jr. and his wife Ellen Capko, his daughter Caren and her husband Robert Harris; his daughter Jean and her husband Michael McFadden. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Chris and his wife Lisa, Gerald and his wife Jamie, Jillian and her husband Andrew O’Brien, and Allison, Michael Jr., Brian and Jennifer; 4 great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Matthew, Brady, and Julieanne.

Visiting hours will be Thursday June 21, 2012 from 2-5 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will take place at 4:00 PM. Burial will be private at Brig. Gen Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to the Hospice of New Jersey 40 Bey Lea Road Suite A202 Toms River, NJ 08753 would be greatly appreciated.
