Herbert G. Petrat

Herb is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Harriet Jacobs Petrat; his sons Herbert Petrat (spouse Monika) and James Petrat (spouse Christine); his daughter Elizabeth Tarantino (spouse Scott); and his cherished grandchildren Emily, Ashtyn, Julia, Ian, and Nathaniel. He was predeceased by his brother Fred and his sister Waltraut.

Born in New Haven, CT, Herb spent his youth in Schmalleningken, Germany, before returning to the United States. He lived in Belleville, NJ, for 38 years and moved to Toms River in 1999, following his retirement. He worked as an electronics technician for Western Electric for over 40 years.

Herb cherished time with his family and enjoyed an active life filled with golf, tennis, and bowling. In retirement, he and his wife created lasting memories together while traveling on cruises.

Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am, with burial to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
