James L. Madsen

James L. Madsen, 90, of Toms River, NJ passed away at his home on Saturday April 30, 2022. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Englewood, James grew up in North Bergen and raised his family in Maywood, NJ before moving to Greenwood Lake, NY. He and his wife Jean, moved to Toms River in 2007. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. He worked for many years as a truck driver and also had his own truck leasing company. James loved music, dancing and entertaining, but he loved nothing more than crabbing with his grandsons.

James was predeceased by his wife Jean and two sons, Michael and Robert. He is survived by his son Gary Madsen of Toms River and his son Chris Madsen and his wife Carol of Greenwood Lake, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin and Christopher Madsen.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 5, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A final viewing will begin at 11:00 am, Friday May 6, 2022, followed by a funeral service at Quinn-Hopping @ 12:15 pm. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in James memory to either the American Cancer Society or the Parkinson’s Unity Walk.
