Jimmy Van Nest

After a courageous battle with cancer, Jimmy Van Nest passed away peacefully on July 6th, surrounded by his loved ones.

Jimmy was a proud father to his two sons, Justin and James – a true family man whose greatest achievements were reflected in theirs. Every milestone they reached brought him immense pride, and he never missed a moment to celebrate their successes.

He found joy in capturing life’s simple beauties, from graduations and weddings to the quiet grace of a beautiful sunset. With his camera always in hand, Jimmy preserved memories that now bring comfort to those who loved him.

Jimmy was happiest anywhere the sun was shining and the weather was warm. His perfect day was spent with a drink in his hand, relaxing in his beach chair with his toes in the sand.

Known for his kindness, Jimmy brought warmth to every room he entered. His creativity and work ethic were unmatched, always eager to share his latest project or idea with his sons. The kitchen was another place where his passion shined, as he passed down recipes and created meals that brought everyone together in laughter and love.

Jimmy is survived by his sons, Justin and James Van Nest, his daughter-in-law Alyssa Van Nest, siblings Julie Nancy and brother Larry , his in laws and of course countless friends and family who loved him deeply.

Jimmy will forever and always be missed more than words can express .

A memorial service for Jimmy will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 1-4 pm & 5-7 pm at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River, NJ 08755.
