Joan A Woods

Joan A. Woods, 86 of Berkeley Township passed away, Thursday April 9th. Born March 9, 1934 in Gettysburg, PA to George and Edna Dickson. Joan the oldest of 5 children moved to Hackensack, December of 1947 with her family. She was a graduate of Hackensack High School. Joan was employed by New Jersey Bell as a phone operator, she worked for Reed-Lane Pharmaceuticals in South Hackensack, she did customer service for Sterns in Paramus before moving to Berkeley Township 25 years ago. She worked for Rite-Aid in Toms River before retiring to care for her mother. In her spare time you could find her in the kitchen preparing one of her many delicious meals or baking the most amazing desserts. Joan was a devoted wife, daughter ,sister, aunt, and friend. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents George and Edna Dickson, her brother Glenn, her brother Frankie, brother in-law Karl Nakaten, her niece Suzy Nakaten, and her beloved sister in-law Beverly Dickson.

Joan leaves behind the love of her life, her beloved and devoted husband John of almost 66 years, their dog Toby. She also leaves behind her sister Louise Nakaten of Oklahoma, her brother Larry Dickson of Whiting. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews Diana Stille, Mike, Nakaten, Kenny Nakaten, Renee Volturo, Stephanie Samms, Donna Dickson, Debbie Badour, George Dickson, and Glenn Dickson Jr. She was a devoted aunt and godmother to her nieces Linda (Dickson) & John Wanamaker, and JoAnn (Dickson) & Michael Sers. Joan also leaves many great nieces and nephews.
