It is with great sadness that we announce the death of June A. Rogers (Oxford, Florida), age 97 who passed away Tuesday, November 28th, 2023 at Mission Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility in Oxford. June had only been at Mission Oaks since May of this year; prior to that, from April 2013 to May of 2023 June was a happy and active Resident of The Carriage House Leisure Retirement Community in Oxford, FL. June departed this life after an enduring fight under Home Hospice Care skillfully and compassionately provided by VITAS Healthcare and Mission Oaks, leaving to mourn family and many friends. Prior to her move to Florida, June was a longtime resident of, first, Bayonne, NJ where she worked and raised her family with husband Michael, until retirement to The Holiday City Retirement Community, Toms River, NJ.
She was born to the late Homer and Frances Gebo, of Plattsburgh, NY , and was also predeceased by husband Michael J. Rogers, Jr., son Dennis J. Rogers of Cave City, KY, and sibling sisters Betty and husband Frank Champagne of North Adams, MA , as well as Joyce Senecal and her husband Andrew of Mt. Lebanon, PA, and Grandson Nicolas Bakk of Munfordville, KY.
She is survived by son COL Michael J. Rogers III (USA RET) & his wife Karen Chase-Rogers of the Villages, FL, sister Janet Lehl and husband Kenneth Lehl, Lincoln, NE, Grandchildren: Aimee Marroquin of Garden Ridge, TX, Leah Rogers of San Antonio, TX, Abigail Rogers-Sullivan and her husband David, Munfordville, KY, James Philip Rogers, Lexington, KY, Melanie Bakk of Munfordville, KY , and 5 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
June has been an active participant of many church & social community activities wherever she has lived, and was a 70+ year Member of the New Outlook Pioneers , an independent Pioneer Group comprised of employees and retirees of Lucent Technologies, Avaya Communication, and Agere. The Pioneers are a network of volunteers whose efforts are dedicated to effect immediate, tangible benefits & change in local communities.
A memorial mass for June will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, 130 St. Maximilian Lane, Toms River, NJ 08757. Following the memorial mass will be a committal service from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Forest Green Cemetery, 535 Texas Road, Morganville, NJ 07751.
