Marilyn Ann Alvino, 91, of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 2, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Forked River. Born in Passaic, NJ, Marilyn had lived in Clifton most of her life. Before moving to Toms River 33 years ago, she also lived in Totowa Boro. Marilyn was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Passaic General Hospital for 10 years until her retirement in 1988.
Marilyn's greatest love in life was spending time with her grandchildren and most recently meeting her first great grandchild, Logan-who she thought the world of. She felt very fortunate and blessed to find love, not only once, but twice in her lifetime. She loved to travel and made many trips around the globe, including Europe, Africa, Spain, Portugal, Hawaii, and countless cruises too many different destinations including Alaska and most of the islands. She also enjoyed our great country and visited most of the 50 states. She loved Disney World and made the trip many times with her grandchildren. Marilyn and Louis also enjoyed living part time in Florida during the winter months. As she began to age, she stayed closer to home, enjoying many trips to Allaire State Park to ride the train with grandson, Zachary. She also enjoyed several trips to her favorite spot, Newport Rhode Island. She loved her Tuesday, Thursday time with her local friends at Dunkin Donuts and Wendy's. Most recently, she had a surprise 90th birthday party and loved seeing both old and new friends, and family. Her smile could light up a room, and it often did. When her first husband Bill took ill, Marilyn returned to school at the age of 46 to get her LPN. Her daughter remembers late nights in the basement where she would study for hours on end. She was a former member of the Italian American Club, The Red Hat Society and a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe. She would often say; "Don't be sad, I had the best life ever and was so very blessed. I thank God every day."
Marilyn was predeceased by her first husband, William J Ritchie, her second husband, Louis Alvino, her son William H Ritchie, her grandson Sean Logan Ritchie, her unborn granddaughter Courtney Mariah Januik. and her brother Robert Vitale, She is survived by her loving daughter Cynthia Januik and husband Bruce, her step son Louis Alvino, step daughter Patricia Alvino, ex-daughter in law, Kathleen Ritchie, grandchildren, Danielle Parks and husband Derek, Alyssa Solie and husband Trenton, Zachary Januik, Shane Januik, and Madison Januik, and great grandson Logan Parks.
