

William K. Korreis, of Seaside Park, NJ, lovingly known as “Opa” passed away at home surrounded by his family on November 22, 2024 at the age of 90. He was born in Passaic, New Jersey on September 3, 1934. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and great uncle. His family was his greatest pride and joy.
He met his loving wife, Hildegard B. Gehringer in 1957 while stationed in the United States Army in Washington D.C. He served in the 3rd Infantry Regiment Presidential Honor Guard under the Dwight D. Eisenhower Administration from 1956-1958. They married on January 4, 1958 in Clifton, NJ where they settled and started their family and lived happily for many years. William retired from Allied Signal-Bendix in 1996 and relocated with his wife to Seaside Park, NJ where they enjoyed many happy years in the home he lovingly designed.
William was an avid fan of the NY Giants, NY Mets and Rutgers University sports. He coached his sons in baseball and football in Clifton, NJ’s Eastern Division Little League. His hobbies included coin collecting, online genealogy researching his ancestry, and spent many hours preserving his precious family home movies, and photographs and turned them into beautiful and memorable video presentations.
William is predeceased by his wife, Hildegard, son-in-law John LoBello, his loving parents, William Peter and Theresa (Zawaski) Korreis and sister and brother-in-law, Francine and Edgar Wurch.
William is survived by his children, Kenneth (Deborah) Korreis, Karen LoBello, Daniel Korreis, Debra (George) Chrysanthopoulos and John Korreis; grandchildren Amanda LoBello (Dermot) Mangan, Kimberly LoBello (Taylor) Butler, Jenna LoBello (fiancée Michael Sadej), John LoBello, Tony (fiancée Melanie Fishkin), Billy, Nicholas and Alec Chrysanthopoulos and Aidan Korreis; and great-grandchildren Bella Mae Mangan, Dermot John Mangan and Grey Joan Butler; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a funeral mass on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catharine of Siena Church in Seaside Park, NJ followed by a dedication and internment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Cedar Grove Road, Toms River, NJ.
