William Tyshon Murphy of Manchester Township, New Jersey passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023 and was embraced by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at precisely 3:16PM "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. Will was 29.
Will was the loving husband and soulmate of Mikaela Murphy. Surviving are also his mother, Bronwyn, and father, William; his mother Kathleen; his mother-in-law, Patricia and father-in-law, Michael; his sister, Diane; his brother, Na'eem and his wife Sharice, and their son Cyrus; his sister, Whitney, and her son, Joshua; his sister, Jessica and her husband Ramses, and their children: William, Kayssi, and Cairo; his brother Joe;his brothers-in-law, Jarek and Luke; and sister-in-law, Carley. Lastly, surviving is his furbaby, Lucinda.
He was predeceased by his adopted father, Brian Timmerman; and his grandparents, Johnny and Nancy Pearson.
Will knew he was saved by Jesus Christ. He read the truth and word of our Lord every day. He would read scripture to his wife and helped to lead her back to God. As he studied the Bible, he would often sit back and give an audible "Wow" or "That's amazing" with a smile. His favorite color was green and his favorite shade was kelly green. Will was warm, strong, kind, passionate, goofy and so smart. Fun fact: Will was ambidextrous.
Will and his wife met at 12 years old at Manchester Township Middle School and were best friends ever since. They were recently married on June 1, 2022 in Dublin, Ireland. The Lord made them one body, united through Christ, giving a "cord of three strands" of solid strength. (Ecclesiastes 4:12) Will loved jazz and rock music and enjoyed Michael Jackson's music as well. He won Mikaela's heart by attempting to moonwalk. He played the bass guitar and had plans to enter law enforcement or become a medical examiner. He also loved to read, learn, and stargaze.
The young couple had plans to eventually move to Ireland and live on a farm overlooking the cliffs. They discussed exactly how their home would look. Mikaela's favorite compliment Will gave her was when they first moved in together in Red Bank - he told Mikaela that she had a way of making the house feel like home. At first, Mikaela took it as a design skills compliment, but in actuality, it meant that life with one another was home.
Will did not have an easy life through the age of 18. Memories of past trauma drove him to addiction to try to numb the mental and physical pain. Broken and low, Will turned to Christ and God spoke to him at America's Keswick Addiction Recovery. Through God, he found his identity and his strength. With all his sins, much like everyone's else's, God loves him. God was and is a constant powerful, unconditional, and filling love and Father to him. Will would say, "God is to you, too."
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 5-8PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:45AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Manchester. Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the America's Keswick Addiction Recovery, 601 CR-530, Whiting, NJ 08759 -OR- https://americaskeswick.org/support/give-now/
A message from Mikaela:
Please, if you are, or have been in active addiction, put yourself in the place of Will and our family. Look upon your loved ones and replace Will's name, and that of our family's in this obituary, with your own. Fill your spoken or unspoken pain and trauma with yours listed here. Christ is here for you and God loves you. Do not feel ashamed or embarrassed.
We were already a family, but hoped to grow our family. His eyes were beautiful and perfect. I will never look into his eyes again.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all of your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
