

With great sadness we mourn the passing of Carole Elder, who passed away peacefully January 5, 2025, in Guelph General Hospital with family by her side. In loving memory, her dear friends are invited to join her family on May 30 2025, to share memories and celebrate her life.
Carole was born on March 5, 1938, to Phyllis and Sidney Spratley in Toronto and grew up on Belgravia Avenue with her older brother Ken. She attended Vaughan Road Collegiate, where she met the love of her life, Bruce Elder, whom she married in 1958. Carole and Bruce had three children: David, Robert and Laura. After living for a few years in London, Ontario, the family settled in Scarborough on Lockdare Street. Carole was always interested in design and worked for a furniture and interiors store doing design consulting before attending the Ontario College of Art and establishing her own Interior Design business. Following her husband Bruce's passing in 2002, Carole moved to North York, where she enjoyed working in a local flower shop, before moving to Guelph in 2011.
Carole was predeceased by her husband, Bruce William Elder, her mother and father, Phyllis and Sidney Spratley and her brother, Ken Spratley. Carole is survived by her son, David, David's wife, Jennifer and their daughters, Katie, Claire, Anna and Emma; her son Robert, Robert's wife, Joanne and their daughters, Anne, Emily and Amy; and her daughter, Laura, Laura's husband, Brendon and their daughter, Lindsay. She will also be missed by extended family and friends.
Visitation for Carole will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street in Toronto, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM.
