Denis Francis Boisselle peacefully left us early Wednesday morning, November 2, 2016 as a result of complications from non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He was surrounded by his wife Marie-Thérèse, son Cory and his wife Zinnia, daughter Donna and her husband Ken, and his youngest daughter Sharon who were there to share and witness his final moments on this earth. He will be truly missed, especially by his six grandchildren, Mathieu, Andrée, Alexandra, Lauren, Cameron and Zachery, and his great granddaughter Avery, and his faithful companion, Rocky.
Born in Belmont, Trinidad, Denis brought great humour and wisdom to all he touched. His love of music, a good joke, and the opportunity to help one grow made him a favourite among his nieces and nephews, of which there are many. A lover of sports and ardent follower of his favourite teams, Denis endured the highs and lows that came with being a fan of all Toronto teams, and yet his support was unwavering.
Well respected in the business community, Denis began his professional accounting career with Wm. Eisenberg & Co. in the early 1960’s, eventually retiring as a Senior Partner with Deloitte. Denis with his wife, Marie-Thérèse, proudly became Canadian citizens in 1965, embracing the country that welcomed them when Denis arrived as a student in 1957. While never ever forsaking or forgetting his Trinidadian roots, Denis encouraged his children to be proud of their heritage, bringing the family to their ancestral home on a regular basis. At the same time the Boisselle family home in Toronto welcomed and received the many nieces and nephews who came from Trinidad to finish their secondary and post-secondary educations in Canada.
Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Denis left his mark on many lives and we all will have a lifetime of stories to share and enjoy. We can only thank him for being in our lives and bringing us the great fortune to have known and loved him.
Donations to The Scott's Mission or Covenant House would be appreciated.
"The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which; he simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both" Buddha
