Beloved wife of the late Harry for 60 years. Dear mother of Beverley (Jeffrey), Gerald (Elizabeth) and Patricia. Grandmother of Andrew and Peter Ball, Christopher, Heather and Jocelyn Mabson.
Also survived by her brother Victor (Judy). Predeceased by her sister Gladys.
Doris was born in London England and immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of 5. She grew up in Lindsay, Ontario, and moved to Toronto to further her education. Doris was very proud of her nurse training at Toronto General Hospital (Class of '47), followed by Post Graduate Studies in Public Health at the University of Toronto, becoming a Public Health Nurse. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the family, gardening and many crafts. Tennis and badminton were sports she pursued over the years. She treasured her time at the family cottage on Whitestone Lake. Having tea in the afternoon was a daily highlight.
The family wishes to thank the many PSW's and nurses provided by LHIN for their support and care of Doris in her own home over the last few years.
Visitation for Doris will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 12:30 PM until time of the service which will be held in the chapel at 2:00 PM at the Kane-Jerrett North York Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street, (South of Steeles Ave.) Toronto. Interment will follow at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Rd., Toronto.
If desired, in memoriam donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
