Frank Simonka

Frank will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Maria, and his children Elizabeth (Jim) and Kathy (Rudy). Papa will be fondly remembered by his loving grandchildren, Jesse (Katharine), Casey (Paige), Steven (Julia), and Ryan. He is survived by his sister Ilus, sister-in-law Juliska, daughter Maria (Abe), and grandchildren Michael, Rob, and Mark. Frank was well loved by his godchildren, his extended family, many friends, and dear neighbours. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Frank was an honest and simple man. He worked extremely hard as a skilled tradesman and would never hesitate to lend a helping hand or offer his vast knowledge to anyone who asked for his help. Frank dedicated endless hours to volunteering at the St. Elizabeth of Hungary R.C. Church, especially during the move from the old church in Toronto to the newly built Parish in Willowdale. He was monumental in advising on this new location. Frank was also active in the social events and clubs within the church. He loved spending weekends at the cottage that he built and hunting there in the fall with his friends. In his later years he loved spending time tending to his garden in the backyard. He always made his wife and his family his number one priority. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he treasured the time he spent telling them endless stories about his life experiences.

Frank was grateful for the good life he was able to build in Canada for his family and for the many friends he made throughout his life. He was a well-loved man, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Friday June 13, 2025, from 4 to 8 pm at the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street in North York. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday June 14, 2025, at 11 am at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 432 Sheppard Avenue East in North York. Committal Prayers will follow at York Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be considered in Frank’s memory to St. Elizabeth of Hungary R.C. Church or Sunnybrook Hospital.
