It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss we announce the peaceful passing of George on October 20, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents Andreas and Katarina, his brothers Michael & Andreas, and his sister Katarina “Kato”. Beloved husband to Maria for 72 years, father to Edith (Werner) and Michael (Via), and Opa to Thomas (Betty), Christopher (Tammie), Daniel (Samantha), Andrea and Evan, Uropa to Ryder, Remi, Rhys and Haydn.
Born in Teaca Romania, George fled to Austria at the age of 16 with his brother Andreas, he moved to Germany with his family in 1957 and then finally to Canada in 1966.
George was very hard-working and was always eager to lend a helping hand. He loved to garden, go for walks, play cards, watch hockey, enjoy a cold beer, and spend time with his family & friends. He was always up for any celebration and will especially be remembered for his laugh.
A visitation for George will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto, followed by a Funeral Service from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM.
