George Jiri Zagmen

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of George (Jiri) Zagmen. He died peacefully in his 99th year, in the caring hands of the Mackenzie Health Hospital staff in Richmond Hill. George was predeceased by his darling wife, Jean (Jaroslava Huspekova) and his beloved sister, Olga Julis, of the Czech Republic. He was the devoted father of Danna Yuhas, Lynn Allen and her husband Bill Allen. He was the proud grandpa of Jennifer Yuhas, Danny Allen, Katie Allen and her husband Ray Rauth, as well as the adoring great-grandpa of Lizzy Rauth and Mia Rauth. George will be greatly missed by his family and fondly remembered by his relatives, dear friends, neighbours and cherished special companion, Carmen Hallett. A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital for their compassionate care during the 5 months he was there following his cancer surgery, and in particular, to Dr. Vivona who made every effort for him, and gave him and his family unwavering support. Also a special thanks to the staff for their dedicated care at Langstaff Square, where he called home, for the last three and a half years. The family of George Zagmen will receive friends on Saturday, May 14, 2016, after 10 a.m., at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street, North York, followed by a memorial service in celebration of his life in the Chapel at 11 a.m. There will be a procession to Highland Memory Gardens, 33 Memory Gardens Lane, Willowdale, where George will be laid to rest with his beloved Jarka. The family invites you to share memories at a lunch reception at 1:15 p.m., at the Pickle Barrel, 5941 Leslie Street, Toronto, following the interment. For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in George’s memory would be appreciated.
