Jee Yun Karin Kim

Public Visitation will be held at Toronto Korean Presbyterian Church, 67 Scarsdale Rd, Toronto, ON M3B 2R2, CA, on April 9, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location on April 9, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm.

Burial will take place at Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd E, Richmond Hill, ON LJee-Yun Karin Kim (née Kwon), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous four-year battle with a brain tumour. She faced her illness with remarkable grace and gratitude, inspiring all who knew her. The family extends deepest gratitude to the Sunnybrook doctors and palliative team who provided exceptional and compassionate care.

Jee-Yun was born on May 4, 1945, in Manchuria (now China), to her late parents, Young-Soon Kwon and Hyuck Joong Kwon and was raised in South Korea. She was one of seven close-knit sisters; Young-Za, Eun-Jung, Myung-Ju, Eaunju, Eun-Sung, and Sunghee, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love and support.

Jee-Yun married her devoted husband, Young Chung Kim on November 7, 1969. In 1971, the young family moved to São Paulo, Brazil, before settling in Toronto, Canada in 1976, where they built their life and community.

Jee-Yun was a talented tailor, cook, and baker who found joy in music, painting, and tending her vegetable garden. She was a devoted member of the Toronto Korean Presbyterian Church and an active participant in its community.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Christine Urquhart (Colin Urquhart) and Samuel Kim (Jane Koh); her cherished grandchildren, Raiya, Rory, Ronin, and Sarah; and her many nieces, nephews, and extended family, with whom she shared deep bonds of love, care, and connection.

Jee-Yun will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her faith, strength, and enduring love for her family.
