Joan passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022. Beloved wife of the late James Sguigna. She is survived by her children Laura (Mirco), Marnie, and Dario, and her grandchildren Michael, Jessica, Sydney, Christina, Nicholas, Emma, Shae, and Katie. She is also remembered by cousin Maria Castronaro and dear friend Shirley Esson.
Joan was at her happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends in both Wasaga Beach and Pompano Beach, Florida. She touched many lives throughout her life and was fondly referred to as mom/Nana by many. Widowed at a very young age, her strength and guidance over the years is what made her the rock of our family. Although she often complained about the chaos we caused when we were all together, we know that she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Her love for late night card games with her grandchildren will carry on and will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in Joan’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private funeral will be held for the family but you are welcome to join us virtually through a livestream of the funeral service. For online condolences and livestream details please visit the Kane-Jerrett North York website at www.kanejerrettnorthyork.ca.
