Lucy was born on April 3, 2012 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. She spent her short but beautiful time on earth enriching the lives of others through her great inner strength and feisty spirit. Her life was spent at the hospital for Sick Children cared for by Nurses and Doctors in NICU, PICU, General Surgery, Complex Care, Physiotherapy, Cardiology, ENT, IGT, Dieticians, Genetics, Social Services, PSAs, Respiratory Therapy, Volunteers, Music Therapy, CCU and Father Michael.
Our sincerest gratitude goes to all of the Nurses and Doctors of 7D who cared so much for our dear "Goosey". Our deepest thanks to her 7D first core nurse, Katie, for being her surrogate "mommy" and going above and beyond in her care for our beloved Lucy. Thank you Tabitha for your love and support from NICU to PICU. We are forever grateful to Lucy’s core nurses who chose to be a part of her complex life and thank them for all they have done. Her life and spirit touched so many and the love for her was so overwhelming and was displayed as her nursing family came to say their final goodbyes from all over the hospital and those not working that day rushing in from their homes. She loved so many and so many loved her. She was a little rock star with a huge spunky loving personality. Everyone knew "Lucy" or knew of her. We are all very fortunate to have such an amazing institution in this country.
There were so many special people who were a part of Lucy’s life and ours. We thank them for their support which gave us strength and allowed us to be a family. We will always be indebted to them for their expertise, knowledge, kindness and love.
Lucy is survived by her parents Sherry and Taras and big brothers John and Sam Skirko.
In lieu of flowers, we would be honored for you to support The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and make a donation at: http://www.sickkidsfoundation.com/donate/
We will always miss you Lucy Goosey and love you forever.
