

Pat (Pasa) Rucas passed away with her family by her side on March 30, 2026 at the age of 95. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Steve (Sotir), her children, Steven (Dina) and Kathy (Danny), her grandchildren, Derek (Anna), Jenna (David), Rhiannon, Matthew and Anthony, and her great-granddaughter, Mackenzie.
She has gone to rest with her late son, Tom (Tase).
Born in the village of Nevoleni in Lerin region, Pat was the only child of Peter and Sultana Tsaparis and was lovingly adored by her Baba Anna. She came to Toronto in 1948 at the age of 18 with her mother to reunite with her father. In 1951, Pat married Steve and they started a life together. They opened the Fry Basket restaurant in 1958 and Pat worked tirelessly to support the family business for over 3 decades. Pat was a devoted mother to her three children who she loved and supported unconditionally. Nothing overjoyed Pat more than becoming a Baba to her five grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.
Pat loved hosting friends and family, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, both at home and at the cottage. Pat was an expert at needlepoint, knitting, and baking. Cooking for her family was her passion, especially fresh bread and zelnik.
Pat had a deep faith in her Macedonian Orthodox religion.
Pat will be deeply missed and remembered fondly for her warm, generous and loving nature.
