Ramon was born in Bantayan, Cebu, Philippines where he enjoyed an adventurous childhood near the ocean and mountainside. As a young man he managed the family business Letrondo Water Supply Co. In 1970 he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cebu Institute of Technology and worked for a development company before immigrating to Toronto Canada in 1971. Ramon and Rose later moved to Brantford, Ontario where they raised Eden and Suzanne.
Ramon was well known for being a kind and gentle soul and for his fun-loving nature. He loved music and being the DJ at family parties and community gatherings, and of course he was the karaoke King. He loved to read, cook delicious meals, and travel. He took considerable pride in his gift for cultivating a vibrant flower and vegetable garden. On top of his green thumb and love of gardening, he was a handyman with many talents. Whether it was putting together Christmas lanterns (parol), designing and building his legendary lechon roasting machine, or making kites for us kids from scratch, his creativeness and ingenuity shone through in every project he endeavored in.
He gave generously of his time and energy not only to his close friends and family, but to the broader communities in which he served. He held a number of posts as a 4th degree officer of the Knights of Columbus including, past Faithful Navigator, Admiral, and most recently Treasurer of his council.
We will remember him most for his thoughtful, calm, and patient manner. Dad, we are forever grateful to you for teaching us how to love each other, find joy in the little things, for the beautiful life you have given us and for sharing your light with all the lives you have touched. We love and miss you infinitely. We raise a glass to you, Dad, cheers.
