It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) James Savioli, who left us on August 4, 2024. Rick was born on July 28th, 1950 and was adopted into the loving arms of Vincent (Jim) James Savioli and Alexandra (Alice) Thachuk in Toronto, Ontario from a Sicilian family in 1951.
Rick was a warm-hearted, funny, and determined individual who touched the lives of everyone he met. He was the beloved father of Sean (Audrey), Mishelle (Youssef), and Raechel. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Andriana, April, and Mason.
Rick was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Alice, his sister Sandi P. Rodden (née Savioli), and his son Kevin Ross Douglas Edwards. Despite these profound losses, Rick remained a pillar of strength and continually turned his losses into determination. He was more than just a family member; he was a good friend and a pillar to many. He always encouraged everyone to be the best that they could be, to stand up for what is right, and to never turn away from something that could be changed for the better, especially if someone needed help. The impact on his family, friends, and colleagues is immeasurable as his values and teachings have left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His wisdom, humour, and unwavering support will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street in North York on Friday August 23, 2024 at 9:30 am. A memorial service to honour the life of Rick will be held at St. Paschal Baylon Church 92 Steeles Avenue West in Thornhill on Friday August 23, 2024 at 11 am. Further details regarding a Celebration of Rick's Life will be announced at Mass on the day of the service.
In keeping with his personality and his dislike for traditional formalities, the family kindly requests that attendees wear comfortable, everyday clothing rather than black. Rick would have preferred to see everyone dressed in the clothes that make them feel at ease and reflect their true selves. He was more of the “let’s grab a beer or a coffee” kind of fellow and we would like to reflect this in his service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Sick Kids hospital foundation in memory of Rick.
The memory of Rick will forever be etched in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to guide us. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
