Salvatore passed peacefully with his family by his side after valiantly fighting a 23-year long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maria, his children, Joseph and Francesca, and his fur-grandchildren, Mocha and Siena. He is also survived by his siblings Mario (Antonietta), Armando (Gisella), Liliana (Tony), and Aldo (Mary). Salvatore has gone to rest and will rejoin in eternal life his parents, Eugenio and Francesca Adelina, and brother Gino (survived by his wife, Maria).
Sal will be best remembered for his dazzling smile, amazing dance moves, incredible garden, and one-of-a-kind tomato sauce. He was one of the most selfless people you could ever meet. He helped anyone in need and did it with his whole heart, without expecting anything in return. His wife and children were his treasures and he made them feel like gold every single day. They were blessed with every additional day they were given with him, and were the reasons Sal would never go gentle into that good night.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at North York General Hospital for their compassionate care during Sal’s final days, as well as Toronto General Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital, where Sal spent a lot of time fighting an unbelievable five different cancers over the last two decades. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to one of those hospitals. They would also like to thank all of Sal’s support workers, friends, and family who have given them so much support and encouragement over the years.
Riposa in pace, Salvatore.
