Dr. Stanley Woo

Stanley was predeceased by his cherished wife Helen and survived by his children Frances (Stanley), Jeffrey (Michelle) and Benjamin (Lucy) and grandchildren Nicholas, Adam, Selene, Ryan and Brayden.

His departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, yet his legacy of love, determination and service will endure.

Stanley's life was a testament to dedication and purpose. He earned his MD in 1963 from the University of Toronto followed by specialist training also in Toronto. A distinguished urologist and surgeon, he embarked on a long and fulfilling career in medicine, positively impacting countless lives around him. For many decades, he served his community wholeheartedly, being on call with his hospital in Newmarket on Saturdays and then giving up his Sundays to work in a clinic for new immigrants in downtown Toronto.

His passion for medicine and strive for excellence was rivaled only by his zest for life and his unwavering commitment to family.

Stanley was a loving husband who shared over 54 years of marriage with his late wife Helen. He found the greatest joy in life through his one true love - their union was a beacon of happiness, filled with peace, laughter, and enduring love. It was a bond that continues to inspire those who witnessed their strength together.

An avid singer, Stanley found great pleasure in melodies, often serenading family and friends with his favorite tunes, “Santa Lucia" and “O Solo Mio”. His love of music was just one of the many facets of his vibrant personality.

In a testament to his spirit, Stanley tackled challenges with remarkable tenacity. His unexpected passion for tennis, despite knowing little about the sport, became a strong family tradition. Stanley took on the role of tennis coach, instilling the love of the game in his children. Through his support, encouragement and boundless energy, his children emerged as skilled competitive players. His grandchildren all play to a high level.

Stanley's enthusiasm for life extended beyond his medical practice and family life. He found great excitement in travel, educating himself on diverse places and cultures, and in the latter years, enjoyed the tranquility of cruising. Exploring the world brought him immense joy and countless cherished memories.

He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, and a multitude of friends, former colleagues and patients, who were touched by his warmth and kindness. Stanley’s legacy of compassion, dedication and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A visitation for Stanley will be held Friday February 23rd from 4-8 pm at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge St, Toronto. A funeral service will occur Saturday February 24th at 10 am at the funeral home, followed by a committal service at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge St., Thornhill, and reception thereafter at a restaurant close by.
