I loved Stephen as a friend, We were in fourth grade together at QCCS.  We had a great time, I believe we met in Ms. Jezinski's class in the portable at the old church.  Mr. Kennedy was our Principal, Shasta and Clancy were our mascots.  We were in classes together on and off till 11th grade when I moved on to public school.  Stephen was cool... great family... I even stayed over at the house one time.

We all played sports together, Stephen was a good hockey player and all the girls loved him :-) we all wanted to be cool like him.

Stephen once punched me in the kidneys as we were talking about kidney punches... I think I've had about 3 stones in that kidney since I dropped to my knees that day.

But I loved him as a friend... I am in shock that my  cool cat friend, one that I looked up to is with our Lord.

I am so sorry for the late post - I just found out today 1/21/2021.  I've moved south to Shreveport/ Bossier in Louisiana (last 25 years).  I am married to a wonder bride (Brenda Gail Tipton Scott).  I guess I never left High School - I am an Assistant Principal at Bossier HS.  I added a picture of me today (although more grey has come in and less hair on top), so it may be hard for someone to remember me as I was then.

My most sincere heart felt condolences.  During the online PAOC 2020 conference I learned of Stephen's graduation.  I was shocked to say the least.  I had met Stephen at EPBC and because I was a student leader I felt it my responsibility to meet everyone.  Stephen was a guy I always liked to connect with.  The world needs more people like him; I am sure he is missed.

Oh my goodness; I just saw the obituary online, and I am absolutely shocked by the news of Steve's passing.  Dear Michelle and family, may God be your rock as you continue your journey.  We knew Steve in Whitby (Oshawa) church.  He, Darren and Jim were the dynamic trio.  Please accept our sincere condolences and love.

Was scrolling through Facebook and the news of Steve's passing hit me. Suddenly something too sobering for words there amidst the nonsense. Made me ever sad because I sure liked Steve. 

Knew him a bit before Bible college as a Queensway kid, but then got to know him well at Eastern for the years I was there. Fond memories of him abusing the Italian language to me, repeating words and phrases taught to him by fellow paisans that joined his family. Me responding that he was a sure "mangiacake" with that white bread accent. 

We spent more than a few moments laughing about so much, keeping a good sense of humor about it stuff that too easily slouches towards humorlessness. 

Condolences to his family and close friends. Way too early to enter his repose. Sadness for those who remain. But for Steve, glory.

Hard to believe that Steve is gone.  I remember going to youth group with Steve and his wife Michelle at Queensway Cathedral.  Steve was good natured and seemed to have time for anyone.  No loss is ever great but this one seems premature.  Our God is able to bring comfort, though.  And Steve is seeing the culmination of his faith now before his eyes.  I pray that would be a consolation to his family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Pastor Steve. He was loved and appreciated by our whole family.  My fondest memory is when I was in hospital recovering from back surgery and he and Pastor Darren came to visit me and share Communion with me. I will never forget his kindness and beautiful example of his love for God, his family and ours.  Our only comfort is that he is with Jesus at this very moment.

What sad, sad news.....

An EPBC Friend and old Roommate D.L. found me out on the Social Media to let me know about the sad news of Steve's passing.

I was fortunate to get to know Steve and Michelle during my four years at Eastern Pent. Bible College.  My Pastoring and Teaching calling led me to Switzerland after graduation in 1993, where Steve on his many trips to the Ukraine and abroad once came for a visit during an overnight stop over in Basel.

I experienced Steve as a passionate person with a heart for his family.  Steve was also passionate and practical in creating an atmosphere  and climate where God's Kingdom could be manifested.  I enjoyed his in depth, truth searching heart and his genuine interest in "life's" hard questions during the many times I was fortunate to share with him.

Our hearts and Prayers (Larry, Verena, Josha, Brenan, Kyle and Jaden) go out to Michelle, Alexa, Shayelle and Isaak as well as Steve's Parents, Siblings and friends. Our deepest Condolences.

I first met Steve some years ago when he pastored at Trinity in Oshawa .He had invited me to play the steelpan at their Caribbean Day Celebration.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my friend. I thoroughly enjoyed the moments our families hung out when Steve pastored in Oshawa. He was always encouraging, always dreaming, and always full of life. I had the privilege of traveling with Steve through Europe when he was part of NLI. I cannot share how many times we laughed on that trip! His humor and appreciation of life were infectious. Steve, you will be remembered with nothing but good memories. Thanks for influencing my life. Our prayers are with Michelle and family.

I am deeply in shock to hear of the passing of my good friend Stephen as we been keeping in touch.  I share in your grief at our sad loss.

I met Steve through Michelle. I was dating Michelle's roommate -Therese.  We quickly became friends. In the early years  1990, Steve was going to bible college and would often  commute back on weekends to work at the pizzeria and see Michelle.  Therese and I got invited by Steve to church. As I never been to one before. In the week that followed, Steve looked squarely in my eyes, and asked -the defining question that would change my life from now to eternity, "would you like to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour?  After this decision  Steve plug  us into young adults at  Queensway church. 
When I got married, Steve was our MC at our reception, and Michelle was in our bridal party . As our family grew, we kept in touch, in Courtice, Kincardine  UK, and most recently here. 
He was generous, kind, compassionate, and a godly man. I will sadly miss our talks over coffee, his music and photography,  and cars. 
Please extend my sympathy to your entire family and let them know how much we share their pain at this tough time.

The Melnichuks became part of our lives while we all lived in England and worked with the Next Level Int'l mission. Steve and Michelle were dearly loved friends to us. We shared many great and memorable moments with their precious family. They were blessing and support as we started to grow our own family with our first daughter. Steve modelled amazing relational leadership and was a brilliant friend. 

We grieve alongside Michelle and their beautiful children and grandson. We pray for God's grace and strength to be present with the entire family in this heavy time of grief and sorrow. Our sincere condolences to all. 

Church on the Queensway thinks Steve is phenomenal!!!  

I am deeply saddened by Steve's passing.  I was a Bible College friend of Steves.  We spent four years together at EPBC in Peterborough and played on the same hockey team.  We had some late night "Double Dexter Pizza" moments that kept us up to the early hours of the morning - gut wrenching laughter and serious heart to hearts were all part of the time we shared together!

Steve was a solid guy with a tender heart!  His love for God, and his love for people was always obvious.  I can still hear his hearty laugh. I will miss Steve very much!

He and Michelle stood in our wedding.  We visited in New Jersey, Kincardine and even were blessed to have time together in Oshawa. 

We were trained together in ministry and I was proud to call him my friend and colleague in ministry.  He was faithfully at his post event up to his death.  I listened to his last sermon from June 23rd.  His message made me smile and took me places in my mind - just hearing his voice again.  

I look forward to being with him on the other-side.  Blessed to call you friend and brother!!  Michelle, you are in our prayers!!

Sandi & Brian, we were shocked and saddened to read of Stephen's death.   We may never understand why someone caring, kind and good would have to leave us long before we ever thought they would.   I learned, from losing my mom suddenly at such a young age, that comfort comes in knowing God is with us every day and that he grieves with us.  And so, we trust his steadfast love through sorrow and pain.  As you share your stories and memories, we pray you find comfort in the love of family, and strength in the caring hearts of friends, and peace in the healing power of time. We met Steve and Michelle when they came to Trinity in Oshawa to pastor. My children played with their's  and they were always a blessing to us. Our thoughts and prayers are with Michelle and the kids as they go through this difficult time.

He was a great guy!! Got to know him when he was a youth pastor in Oshawa. A great memory was playing laser tag with him and our mutual friend Al!! He was hilarious! He was a passionate follower of Jesus and he will be missed! Praying for the family!!

We were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden loss, but have spent the last few days sharing all the fond memories we had together with Pastor Steve. He was a mentor to us as newlyweds and again as new parents. His generous spirit and passion for Jesus has influenced us and he will be missed.  May God bless you all with peace in this painful time of loss
