1945 – 2025
“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains.”
With heavy hearts, we share the news that Val passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, at Innisfree House Hospice surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by her husband Barney Vogen, her parents John and Doris Wills and brothers John and Clive Wills.
Loving mother to Richard (Rose) Black, Laurie (George) Georgopoulos and Julie (Henry) Monteforte. Beloved Nan to Harry, Adrian (Emma), Jesse (Maddy) and Alia. She will be sadly missed by her brother Bruce (Carole) Wills, sisters Pam Small and Chris (Art) Ziegler and all their children.
Val worked various jobs throughout her years, her proudest as a palliative care support worker.
We are so thankful for her 80 years on this Earth. We are especially grateful to the many healthcare professionals who aided her on her journey. Heartfelt thanks to Dr Hameed and Barb, Sam, and his staff at Highland I.D.A in Cambridge and dedicated staff and volunteers at Innisfree Hospice House. Val was most fond of her Paramed nurses Shelley, Kailey and Danielle who became like family and provided daily care visits.
She was a great mother who led by example and taught us to appreciate the simplest of things in life. Her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren and chatting on the phone with family and friends. She delighted in watching the Raptors, the Toronto Blue Jays and spending warm sunny days on her balcony as an avid birdwatcher and tending to her flowers.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, from 1-4 pm, at Conestoga Banquet Hall, 617 King St N., Waterloo.
