Young Tae Kim

We are saddened to announce the passing of Young-Tae Kim on February 14th, 2024 at age 90. Husband to his beloved wife, Young Hee Kim and proud father of Grace and John (Caroline). Forever in the hearts of his cherished grandchildren, Marisa, Ryan, Christopher (Sandra) and Robyn.

Young-Tae was born in the fishing village of Mageunpo-ri, Gimpo, South Korea in Gyeonggi-Do province. He had a difficult childhood growing up during Korea’s most tumultuous and war-torn decades, but found ways to stay resilient, hopeful and helpful. Always one who valued academics, after he served in the army he successfully finished his graduate studies in Seoul and became a lecturer and taught chemistry and natural sciences at universities.

In 1967, Young-Tae decided to leave Korea with his family and immigrate to Canada to start a new life. He took great pride in his work as a tree chemist for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

Young-Tae was known for his witty sense of humour, gentle spirit, honesty, and joy for life’s simple pleasures. A perfect day for him would include having lunch and sharing stories with his grandchildren, and coming home to share a cup of coffee with his wife. We shall miss him very much.

A family viewing time for Young Tae will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto, followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
