

Funeral services for Alvin Ray Davis, 86, of Winnsboro will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Lake Fork Baptist Church with Bro. Perry Crisp officiating. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler.
Mr. Davis passed away at his home on August 12, 2015 in Winnsboro.
He was born on June 8, 1929 in Washburn to the late Warren LaFayette and Hattie Gunter Davis. He retired after 30 years of service at General Motors and while there he was involved in Toys for Tots. He was a 45 year resident of Arlington, always involved in community service. In baseball he was a commissioner, for the first semi-pro team, coached and served as an umpire for the Little League, also was a school bus driver for both Arlington School District and the Winnsboro School District. Ray had a heart of love for any and all he met.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Davis of Winnsboro; daughters, Bonnie Keener and husband Billy of Winnsboro and Gina Robertson and husband Michael of Paradise; son, Dan Davis and wife Tricia of Alexander, Arkansas; brother and sister-in-law, Myrle and Dee Davis of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
