

Audry L Ferguson of Tyler, Tx passed away at the age of 83 on Father’s Day, June 18th, 2023. Pedro, as he was known to family and friends growing up, was born to Ray L. and Lottie Ferguson in Atkins, Arkansas on October 12th,1939. Pedro was an all-state football player while attending Atkins High School. Pedro was the MVP of the 1956 ALL STAR High School football game. Residents of Atkins still talk about his accomplishments to this day.
After graduating high school, he got a job at the pickle plant like everyone else. He worked there a few years before enlisting in the United States Navy. He was assigned to the USS Cunningham. Pete, as he was known later in life, proudly served in Vietnam.
Pete married his first wife, Patricia, and they had 2 sons, Todd and Lee. After Patricia died, Pete married Connie and along with Lee and her 2 sons, Jason and Jerid, they moved to New Summerfield, Tx. In 1981, they bought the local grocery store and renamed it Al Ferguson Grocery store. The store was the center of the small little town. Pete also served on the school board in New Summerfield. After selling the store, Pete owned a few stores around the area. Pete and Connie finally retired to Galveston, Tx and lived there until moving back to Tyler, Tx in 2019. Pete spent the next few years taking care of Connie as she battled dementia. Pete was by Connie’s side when she passed away in December of 2022.
Pete is survived by his son, Lee Ferguson and wife, Mycha of Jacksonville, Tx. Stepsons, Jason McAdoo and wife, Tana of Tyler, Tx and Jerid McAdoo and wife, Shelly of Fort Cobb, Ok. Also left to cherish his memory are 7 grandchildren, Jenifer Ferguson and Fredrick Wilkins, Joshua Ferguson, Chris Green and wife, Lisha, Michael Green and wife, Morgan. Taylor McAdoo and Tanner and Emily McAdoo and 9 great-grandchildren. Pete is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Shepard of Tyler, Tx and Marilyn Mitchell and husband, Bill of Angier, NC. Also, nieces, Sara Chisum and Leslie Garrigus.
There will be a memorial service at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Atkins, Arkansas.
