

David passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015, in Tyler.
He was born on June 27, 1946 in Dallas to the late John August and Carmen Solomon. He was involved in the chapel choir of First Baptist Church in Dallas from 1964 to 1968 and was featured soloist with the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus from January 1969 to September 1972. He completed his Bachelor and Master of Music at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. He worked on his doctoral degree through June, 1982. David was an investment advisor/financial planner with CIGNA beginning in 1982 and soon after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He retired for medical reasons in 1987. God led him and his wife, Robin, to Tyler in 1993 where she still works with ETMC Rehab Hospital. They became members of Green Acres Baptist Church where David began singing in the choir again.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Solomon, of Tyler; sons, John Mark Solomon, of Tyler, and Samuel Solomon, of Houston; daughter, Abigail Solomon, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; granddaughter, Schylar Solomon; and brother, Kenneth Solomon, of South Garland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John “Jack” Solomon.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Green Acres Baptist Church Worship fund in memory of David Solomon.
