Services for Gara Stark, 88, of Tyler will be at 12:30 P.M., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Msgr. Joseph Strickland officiating. Burial is in Cathedral in the Pines under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Stark passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in Tyler.
He was born on December 26, 1922 in Dallas to the late Henry Oscar and Leila Ada Coppedge Stark. He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He has lived in Tyler since 1949 and was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He was employed from 1949 – 1986 by the Texas Employers Insurance Association and Employers Casualty of Texas and was a chartered life underwriter. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stark of Tyler; daughters, Suzanne Perkins of Tyler, Charlotte VandeVen of Arlington, Melanie Pickrell of Whitehouse and Jill Barber of Tyler; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Wilson C. Stark of Lewisville.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
