Graveside services for Geneva Lee Hill Alberts, 92, of Tyler, will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 1:30 PM at North Hopkins Cemetery Sulphur Springs TX. under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alberts passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014.
She was born August 22, 1922, to Joseph Richard Hill and Addie Virginia Miller Hill in Antlers, Oklahoma.
Geneva grew up on the farm near Hooks, TX. She lived most of her life in Greenville, TX.
Geneva was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman David Alberts, in 1974; her parents; two sisters and two brothers.
Geneva is survived by her loving family, including her two sons and daughters-in-law, Waire Dale Alberts and wife Laura Susan Alberts, of Tyler, and David Ray Alberts and wife Deborah Alberts, of Dayton; grandson Michael James Alberts, of Jacksonville; great grandson Thomas James Alberts, of College Station; three nieces, Virginia, Frances, and Bonita, all of the Dallas area.
Mamma loved to travel. They went on many vacations when Dale and David were growing up. After she retired she took several “senior” trips including Arkansas, Memphis Tennessee, New Orleans Louisiana, and Florida.
She loved to garden. She always had beautiful flowers and a large vegetable garden. Many times she would take a cutting of something and root it.
Geneva loved to cook. When the family came for a visit she made enough food for an army. Thanksgiving was always her favorite holiday.
After Daddy passed away, she worked at Howards in Greenville.
Geneva moved to Tyler 1998 to be closer to Dale and Susan.
She was a lifelong Baptist and member of Prairie Creek Baptist Church.
We will miss our mother greatly, but we know she is now in a better place, as David said. The Family wishes to thank the staff, and nurses of Providence Park Nursing and Rehabilitation 500 hall and the Hospice of East Texas.
