Harmon Wayne Kirkley Sr.

Harmon Senior was born in Tyler, Texas on March 3rd 1941. He went to be with his Lord and

Savior on October 13th, 2023 at the age of 82. His life started when he married his bride Linda

Jean Downing in 1958. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary together in

May. Not long after they got married Mr. Kirkley received his GED and began work at Tyler

Packing Company. There he proudly processed meat and delivered for 10 years. Following his

work at the Tyler Packing he was hired at Kelly Springfield in 1968. His career at Kelly

Springfield led to 30 years of commitment until retirement in 1998. He was a faithful husband

and wonderful father to 4 children. Mr. Kirkey was extremely supportive of all his children and

enjoyed watching them grow into great parents.The next 25 years were full of camping, fishing

and family. He and Linda admired God’s creation and enjoyed the outdoors as much as time

allowed. He is preceded in death by both his mother and father Hiram and Lorene Kirkley of

Tyler, sister Rita Spencer of Tyler, and two grandsons Sean Smith and Kevin Smith of Tyler. He

is survived by his wife Linda Jean Kirkley, sister and brother in law Carol and Mike Hogue of

Louisiana, brother and sister in law Kenneth and Fran Kirkley of Crowley, sister and brother in

law Vinnie and Charlie Stephens of Flint, son and daughter in law Wayne Jr. and Kelley Kirkley,

daughter and son in law Judy and Randy Smith, son and daughter in law Dennis and Renee

Kirkley, and son and daughter in law Allan and Debbie Kirkley. His grandchildren include Cory

Smith, David Kirkley, Brandi Fisher, Lacy Steele, Brittnay Kirkley, Desiree Cunnigham, and

Emma Fuller as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family would

like to thank Hospice of East Texas for the diligent love and care shown during this time to Mr.

Kirkley and our loved ones. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to

Hospice of East Texas. Following this graveside service the family invites you to celebrate Mr.

Kirkley’s life by joining them for lunch located at the Home of Wayne and Kelley Kirkley.

Services will be held at LLoyd James Funeral Home

Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday October 18, 2023 with a funeral service at 11:00am

and interment at Williams Cemetery.

A a time of visitation for Harmon will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 E 1st St, Tyler, Texas. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 1011 E 1st St, Tyler, Texas. A burial will occur at Williams Cemetery, Tyler, Texas.
