

Henry McRuiz was born in the Baxter Community, near Athens, TX. On December 24, 1930 to Jose and Refugio McRuiz. He was 91 years old. He had two sisters and five brothers. He lived most of his life in Tyler. After graduating from Tyler High School, he joined the United States Air Force in December 1950, and served during the Korean War 1950-1953. Henry was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, from Egin Air Force Base in Florida. Afterwards he met and married Becky Adams McRuiz in Tyler on January 5, 1957. They had two children, Kyle and Jana.
Henry went to work for the U.S. Postal Service and he retired as a mail clerk in 1988. After retirement, he spent a lot of time with church, fishing and gardening. He had a huge vegetable garden that he shared with family and friends. Henry enjoyed serving as an interpreter for the church on mission trips.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Becky; his son, Kyle and wife, Shirley of Longview; his daughter, Jana Tiller of Wylie, TX; four grandsons, Kenny McRuiz of Longview, Jeremy McRuiz and wife, Ashley of Longview, Max McRuiz and wife, Matney of Diana and Mason Tiller of Midlothian; five great-grandchildren, Katie and Cooper McRuiz, Hudson McRuiz, Lucius Tiller and soon to be born Mason McRuiz. He is also survived by one brother, Joseph McRuiz of Tulsa, OK and many, many nieces and nephews and friends.
Henry and Becky have been members for many years at West Erwin Church of Christ and have enjoyed years of faithful service, helpi9nig others. In his later years, Henry had a love of fishing, gardening, pets, music, family and church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry’s honor, to Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County, or to Humane Society’s Pets fur People.
A service to celebrate Henry McRuiz, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in the Chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. one hour prior to service in the chapel.
