

Jeane Hood, age 86, of Tyler, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Hospice of East Texas. She was born on May 21, 1926 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Arch and Jessie (Medcalf) Brown, they preceded her in death. Jeane married the love of her life and best friend, Roy Hood, in Texas City, Texas on September 21, 1951. Together they spent the next 61 years raising a family, serving the Lord, and living a lifetime of memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she knew and loved. Roy and Jeane have been active members of Green Acres Baptist Church since 1976. Together they served as Volunteer Christian Builders for over 18 years. Jeane was a Sunday school teacher and even served as a song director for a short time. She was the prayer warrior in her family and prayed daily for those in need and those she loved. In her free time, Jeane loved working in her yard. Jeane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who led the Christian walk by example and truly loved her Lord and her family.
Jeane is survived by her loving husband, Roy Hood; children, Linda Sondag, and husband Gene, of Grand Prairie, Bill Hood, and wife Jinny, of Irving, Kathy Franklin, and husband Scott, of Tyler, Buster Hood, and wife Oralia, of Tyler, Peggy Seals, and husband Colbert, of Midlothian and Renee DeLeon of Dallas; and by 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way.
Jeane was also preceded in death by one sister Virginia LaBelle.
Services for Jeane Hood will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Powell and Dr. Darryl Dunks officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kristopher Hood, Lance McClure, Corey Mitchum, Troy Seals, Greg Sikes, and Steve Sikes. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M., Monday evening, at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a special “thank you” to all of the women of her Sunday school class at Green Acres for all of their love, support, and prayer over the past few years. It meant everything to Jeane and the entire family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Volunteer Christian Builders of Green Acres Baptist Church or to Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
