Joan Prestridge Norris

A memorial graveside service for Joan Prestridge Norris, 90, of Tyler, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery. Our loving mother went home to heaven on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2015, in Tyler.

She was born September 1, 1924 in Tyler, Texas, to W. S. and Ruby Prestridge. Joan was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Tyler where she and her husband ministered to college students and young couples over the years. She retired as Assistant to the Registrar at Tyler Junior College.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Miller Norris; brother W. S. (Jiggs) Prestridge, Jr., brother and sister-in-law Robert and Sue Prestridge; parents W. S. and Ruby Prestridge; grandson, Patrick Graham.

She is survived by son, Tim and wife Charlotte of Tyler, three daughters, Judy Drager and husband Cec, of Granbury; Susan Graham and husband Gary, of Fredricksburg, VA, and Gayla Oldham and husband Tony, of Lowell, AR. She was Mawie to her grandchildren, Michelle Smith (Jason), Matt Leyman (Pam), Kevin Graham, Rebecca Cogley (Kevin), Erin Norris, Kyle Norris (Misty), B. J. Norris (Lucielle), and Lauren Hobbs (Josh); and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of a visitation, friends are welcome to come by Lloyd James Funeral Home on Monday from 1:00-5:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Royal Family Kids or the charity of your choice.
