

Visitation services for Joseph Thomas Barber, age 56, of New London, will be held on Tuesday, May 22, at 5:00 p.m. A Rosary will follow at 6:30 p.m. at Lloyd James funeral home in Tyler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23rd at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church in Tyler with the Very Rev. Anthony McLaughlin, JCD officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery. Joe passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 in Kilgore.
Joe was born on October 6, 1955, in Tyler, to Mary Barber and the late Raymond Barber. He graduated from Texas State Technical College in Waco. Following graduation Joe began a 33 year career with ExxonMobil Corporation, where he was still employed at the time of his death, a job he dearly loved. He was an active member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church. Joe enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his best friend, Carl Deaton. It was his joy to raise Letha Rose. He also enjoyed metal work and working in his shop. He knew no strangers and everyone knew him for his unique humor.
He is survived by wife Missey Barber; son, Joseph A. Barber (Booze); daughter, Chelsey A. Barber; mother, Mary Barber; step children, Mackey Ware, Mandy Rocco and Macie Rogers; brothers, David, Anthony, John, and Kelly Barber and sister, Mary Margaret Ellison.
