
Funeral services for Joe Willis, 85, of Tyler, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 3, 2014, at West Erwin Church of Christ with Don Crawford and Donnie Carnathan officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Burial is in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.
Joe passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, in Tyler. He was a resident of Tyler for 23 years, moving from Oklahoma. He married Betty Strait in Tyler on April 25, 2009. Joe was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born on March 2, 1929 in Hill County to Jim Henry and Jessie Lou Corbin Willis.
Joe is survived by his wife, Betty, of Tyler; son, Jeff Willis, of Bullard; daughter, Jo Ellen Hobizal, of Georgetown; stepson, Dwain Strait, of Lubbock; stepdaughter, Sheila Threet, of McKinney; brothers, Charles Willis, of Killeen and Archie Willis, of Groesbeck; sister, Billie Hughes, of Killeen; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Willis, Kenneth Willis and James Willis; and a sister, Mavis.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Berryman, Emie Gordon, Tommy Parrish, Billy Terrell, Jack Stringer and Fred Powell.
