Lawrence "Eddie" Horton

Lawrence “Eddie” Horton, age 78, of Tyler, left us to be in the loving arms of Jesus in the mid-morning hours of Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born on August 2, 1934 in Tyler to William Clyde and Maxine Clark Horton, who preceded him in death. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from Wm Cameron Wholesale after 35 dedicated years. He was also the co-owner of the Painted Pony in Canton. Eddie married his lifelong soul mate, Joyce Elizabeth Osborn, in Durant, Oklahoma and together they raised three beautiful daughters and lived a lifetime of memories. He was a longtime member of Green Acres Baptist Church. In his free time, Eddie enjoyed wood working and traveling but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Eddie, comfortable with his faith, was never shy to share the gospel. He never met a stranger and could easily make a friend. Eddie leaves behind a true legacy of love, gentleness, and a sense of caring for those around him.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Angi Horton Passman, and husband John, of Lexington, KY, Cissy Horton of Dallas, and Michelle Horton Weeks, and husband Ronnie, of Troup; grandchildren, Brendan Weeks, and wife Samantha, Tarajon Passman, Sladyn Passman, Trase Weeks, Ronan Passman, and Blake Horton Featherston; brother, Jerry Horton of Arlington, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of Friends.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Logan Weeks, and a sister, Barbara Horton Peterson.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Hospice of East Texas for all of their tender care and loving support throughout Eddie's illness.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Chaplain Bill Novell officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Friday evening at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
